Visit Costa Brava
Costa Brava is the "rugged coast" of
north east Spain from the vibrant, stylish Catalonian
city of Barcelona northwards towards the French border.
The costa's main resorts are Lloret de Mar, Santa Susanna and Tossa de Mar. They offer the kind of beach holiday, watersports, international cuisine and bars that British visitors have enjoyed for fifty years.
Lloret de Mar, for example, is a modern resort that caters for tourists whilst retaining a few historical treasures. Its main street bustles with life day and night, offering restaurants, discos and bars that appeal to the young and lively.
The rocky coastline is dotted with bays
and for those not content to
relax on one of the five main beaches, there are watersports
to try.
Tossa de Mar can offer an Old Town and 14th Century
castle, alongside
the bars and restaurants and all the facilities that
are expected in an
international holiday resort.
Barcelona has to be one of
the finest cities in the world, not just in
Europe. The best introduction to Barcelona [BarSELLona
in Catalan,
BarTHElona in Spanish], is to walk along the main thoroughfare,
La
Rambla, from Placa de Catalunya to the harbour. It is
fascinating! The flower
stalls are beautiful and there is plenty more to capture
the interest.
Catalonia's modernist architecture of the
late 19th and 20th centuries - an
unique melting pot of Art Nouveau, Gothic, Moorish and
other styles -
climaxes in this city in the inspiring creations of Antonio
Gaudi; among
them, the unfinished Sagrada Familia church and Parc
Guell. It gives
Barcelona an unique feel.
Barcelona also has world-class
museums, including one devoted to
Picasso, fine cuisine and unbeatable nightlife. It is also
very proud to be a Catalan city and the the capital of
Catalonia.
The Catalan language takes precedence over Spanish on bilingual menus.
